At Monarch Family Counseling, we understand that every person and every situation is unique. That's why we offer a variety of therapeutic services, each tailored to address specific needs and goals. Our licensed therapists use evidence-based approaches to provide effective, compassionate care.
Anxiety & Stress
Anxiety and stress can feel overwhelming, affecting every aspect of your daily life. Whether you're experiencing persistent worry, panic attacks, or chronic stress from work and life demands, therapy can help you regain control and find relief.
Our therapists use evidence-based approaches to help you understand the root causes of your anxiety, develop effective coping strategies, and build resilience. You'll learn practical techniques like mindfulness, breathing exercises, and cognitive restructuring to manage anxious thoughts and reduce stress responses. Therapy provides a safe space to explore your concerns and develop the skills needed to face life's challenges with greater confidence and calm.

Depression
Depression affects millions of people regardless of their circumstances—wealth, relationships, or job status provide no immunity. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 19.4 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode in 2019. If you're experiencing persistent sadness, lack of motivation, or reduced joy in activities that once brought pleasure, you're not alone.
Common symptoms include changes in appetite and sleep patterns, lower interest in activities and hobbies, fatigue, reduced ability to concentrate, and sometimes suicidal thoughts. Therapy is an evidence-based, research-supported approach to treating depression. Our therapists help you understand the causes of your depression, develop skills to counter negative self-talk, change thought patterns that influence mood, and learn concrete coping strategies. Remote counseling is available, allowing you to participate from home.

Couples & Families
We work with married couples, dating partners, engaged couples, families with minors and adult children, parent-adult child relationships, parents with teenagers, and siblings. Clients typically reach out when they feel stuck—experiencing recurring conflicts without resolution, emotional distance, or diminished hope. Research shows couples often delay therapy until experiencing unhappiness for 6+ years.
Our primary approaches include Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), validated by 30+ years of research, which helps relationships address underlying emotional needs rather than surface-level arguments. Using the "iceberg" metaphor, we recognize that conflict content is visible, but deeper unmet needs drive patterns. We also use Prepare and Enrich, an assessment tool used by over 4 million couples globally, addressing communication, conflict resolution, intimacy, finances, values, spirituality, and parenting compatibility. We're committed to helping you create thriving relationships—familial and romantic connections can be sources of joy and strength.

Trauma
Trauma is the experience of an event, repeated event, or circumstance that can have lasting harmful effects on your physical and emotional wellbeing. No experience is too minor to be considered traumatic—everyone responds differently. We recognize three types: Acute (a single overwhelming event), Chronic (repeated instances like domestic abuse or bullying), and Complex (exposure to several events within relationships).
Emotional responses may include anxiety, sadness, anger, sleep problems, flashbacks, irritability, and avoidance. Physical responses can include headaches, digestive issues, fatigue, and being easily startled. Our compassionate, personalized counseling provides a safe space where therapy progresses at your pace. We begin with grounding and coping skills before processing traumatic memories, using somatic therapy, EMDR, and cognitive approaches. Benefits include reduced anxiety and distress, improved coping skills, better self-understanding, reduced guilt, improved relationships, and better trigger response management.

Adolescents
Being a teenager can be hard. Teens today experience significant stress, anxiety, depression, and social pressures including bullying and academic demands. Adolescents often feel isolated and misunderstood in their struggles. Statistics show that 1 in 5 teens (ages 13-18) experience a mental health concern—you're not alone.
We treat depression (characterized by sadness, hopelessness, low self-esteem, and concentration difficulties), anxiety (including social anxiety and panic attacks affecting 1 in 8 children), and ADHD. Our therapists provide a judgment-free space and teach valuable coping skills. Therapy is customized to each teen's needs, utilizing various modalities like talk therapy and art therapy. We emphasize building strong therapeutic relationships and take a holistic approach examining family dynamics, peer relationships, and daily life. We also work closely with parents who may feel confused about their teen's behavior or uncertain about what constitutes normal adolescent development.

ADHD
We work with adults and adolescents who have ADHD, helping them learn more about their diagnosis, develop tools to manage symptoms, and find ways to share that understanding with others. Our comprehensive ADHD support includes both behavioral and emotional therapy approaches.
Behavioral therapy employs evidence-based methods aligned with CDC recommendations. We help you understand your neurobiology, develop coping strategies, and build grace, understanding, and skill in managing symptoms in day-to-day life. Emotional therapy addresses shame, self-criticism, and rejection sensitivity—we recognize that individuals often mislabel ADHD behaviors as personal failings when they're actually neurological differences. We provide individual therapy, family support and education, and collaborative treatment planning with psychiatrists and executive coaches. Our philosophy emphasizes that knowledge is power—we work to help you comprehend your ADHD while developing practical management techniques and recognizing your strengths alongside challenges.
